Favourite Fire Emblem Game

Since everyone was so nice and helpful yesterday, I was just wondering what Fire Emblem game is everyone's favourite to play and why.

Mine is FE8 for obvious reasons >:)

Radiant Dawn! Even though I didn't like Path of Radiance.

That's for the Wii right? Why didn't you like Path of Radiance?

FE7, because it was the first one I was able to play past the prologue and I grew attached to the characters pretty quickly.

FE4, for its engaging storyline and unique features. That was technically the first one I tried, but I didn't actually PLAY it for a while since it's also one of the hardest.

FE8, for the fun factor. :3 Re-visiting secret shops and playing as enemy/NPC characters? Monsters? Hell yeah! Also LYON. ;_;

Mm, I felt like Path of Radiance has a really weak story with no surprises or much nuance at all, and the characters don't engage me within it. And. . .well, I didn't find it much fun to play. It's all building up to Radiant Dawn's storyline and plot arcs, which actually made the characters and world interesting for me.

Of course, this is all IMHO. Fandom tends to disagree with me. :P

I adore Radiant Dawn. It has really thoughtful level design and does great things with how it divides up your armies. It's also got a lovely plot with some really dark stuff.

It is a little better if you play Path of Radiance first, though -- while Path of Radiance is weaker as a game by itself, it does a great job of setting things up in ways you only realize in hindsight. It's also a reasonably fun "traditional" Fire Emblem, mechanics-wise.

FE7's a very fun game mechanically, though the story and script haven't aged well for me. FE4's got a great twist and some pretty unique quirky gameplay aspects but ultimately I think it's got some major issues. FE12, aside from some offbeat MyUnit stuff, is a very good, solid game -- lots of fun mechanically, and some pretty poignant story parts.

(Fwiw I've played through 4 through 12, and 11 and 12 are remakes of 1 and 3, so I can offer opinions on any entry if you'd like. I poked at 2 but it was unfun, and 5 I aborted very near the end for good reasons.)

Two for Radiant Dawn so far! I'll have to look into buying it and Path of Radiance as I do have a Wii.

Thanks for your answer :) I'll take all and any opinions you have on any entry as my knowledge of the series is very very small.

Fandom is one disagreeable ball sometimes, but you and Amielleon have said the same things about Path of Radiance, so I'll trust your opinions :)

5 has an unusually strong reliance on chance. I like the sense of newness and unpredictability in most FE games, but FE5 is pervasively randomized, from bombarding you with low hit rates that you need to hit, to random two-moves-a-turn, to reinforcements with killer weapons. To top it off, it's difficult in general, which means that it's impossible to attempt to minimize risk.

Fire Emblem 7... because I haven't played anything other than FE7 and FE8, and FE8 was kind of easy next to FE7. :D;; I may be allergic to the sight of Wyvern Riders after Chapter 21 of Hector Hard Mode.

Heads-up! You can only get him in the post-game material. He's not recruitable during the main story. :)

(Been meaning to reply to this for a while, so sorry about the delay.)

FE7 will always be my absolute favorite, since it got me into the series and gave me a cast of characters that inspired half a million words of 'fic, but FE8, the fun and quirky standalone, is not too far behind it despite highly uneven difficulty.
